It's rather amazing to realize that this "post-Who," "later-solo-period" Pete Townshend release is now more than 35 years old! Townshend, one of Rock's greatest guitarists and songwriters, created an enjoyable, somewhat conceptual album here, complete with near-hits that received ample radio-play ("Give Blood," "Face the Face") at the time of their release.

26 de dic. de 2006 · As far as I'm concerned, "White City" is far and away the best solo album ever recorded by Pete Townshend. The mesmerizing and down-in-the-mouth "Give Blood" opens the album with a vengeance. Despite the despair of the lyrics, Townshend ratchets things up to a major chord at the last minute--and it makes perfect sense.
