Born in Boston and raised in Natick, Massachusetts, inimitable singer, songwriter and guitarist Jonathan Richman founded the Modern Lovers, a hugely influential proto-punk band, in 1970 at age 19.

The Modern Lovers were an American rock band led by Jonathan Richman in the 1970s and 1980s. The original band existed from 1970 to 1974 but their recordings were not released until 1976 or later. It featured Richman and bassist Ernie Brooks with drummer David Robinson (later of The Cars) and keyboardist Jerry Harrison (later of Talking Heads).
17 de dic. de 2006 · I first heard Jonathan Richman in the movie "There's Something About Mary" but at the time I wasn't as interested in music and didn't seek him out for a better listen. Many many years later, my uncled played the album "I, Jonathan" in the very somber setting of his son's memorial service. This was music my cousin liked.
