The remaining 30 places are given to boys who sit the entrance examinations when they are in Year 8. All candidates sitting for Year 9 Deferred Entry for September 2027 will sit their Entrance Examinations at Dulwich College on Tuesday 3 December 2024 using our own bespoke tests. We do not use the ISEB pre-test for Deferred Entry applicants.

Around 70 pupils join the Lower School into Year 7 (11+) each academic year from a wide selection of primary schools and independent schools. In addition, boys from our Junior School move up into Year 7, making a year group total of around 125 boys. Please note that candidates cannot apply for both Year 7 and for Year 9 Deferred Entry.
Registration for candidates outside the UK seeking entry to Dulwich College for both day and boarding should complete an Overseas Registration form. The overseas registration deadline for Years 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 12 for September 2025 entry is 27 September 2024. Entrance and examination procedures differ slightly for each year group.
