Nomenclature. ArtCenter was founded in 1930 as The Art Center School, and the name was changed to Art Center College of Design in 1965 to clarify its identity as a professional, degree-granting institution with an academic focus on both art and design. Almost from the beginning, though, it has been known informally as “Art Center.”.

Summer Intensives. Summer Intensives are offered both in-person or online and take place July 8—August 10, Monday—Friday from 9 AM—4:30 PM. Tuition for Summer Intensives is $2,500. Material costs are estimated at $100-150. The ACX Teens Summer Intensive opportunity is designed for those ready and excited to pursue a future in art and design.
