Session 9 almost escaped me and made itself very comfortable in my watchlist for many, many years. An early 2000’s low-budget midnight creeper with a haunted asylum setting that heavily relies on its somber atmosphere and psychological thrills; which all lead up to its pretty grand twist finale.

2 de abr. de 2013 · SESSION 9 is a surprisingly good low-budget, small cast horror film that plays with audience expectations like a particularly sadistic cat with a mouse. While a slow starter for sure, it doesn't waste the time involved but uses it to invest in its characters and let the audience try to figure out if they are watching a supernatural or a psychological horror film, or both.
It looms up out of the woods like a dormant beast. Grand, imposing... abandoned and deteriorating, the Danvers State Mental Hospital, closed down for 15 year...

With his eye on the abandoned Danvers State Hospital in Danvers, Massachusetts, Anderson and his writing partner Stephen Gevedon set out to make their character-driven take on the classic haunted house movie.
