Drummer JERRY NOLAN joined the infamous gang NEW YORK DOLLS in 1972 after their first drummer Billy Murcia died after a failed attempt to revive him from a drug overdose. Nolan himself left the Dolls in 1975 together with the late guitar hero Johnny Thunders to form The Heartbreakers.. Nolan was treated for bacterial meningitis and bacterial pneumonia in late 1992.
14 de ene. de 1992 · In 1975, Nolan and Thunders left the group, formed the band "Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers" and released the album "L.A.M.F." (1977), which has since become a punk music classic. In the following years, "The Heartbreakers" performed on tours, plus released the albums "Live at Max's Kansas City" (1979) and "Live at the Lyceum Ballroom" (1984).

Without a label, and with the band starting to pull in different directions, Thunders and Jerry Nolan, Murcia’s replacement on drums, left to form the Heartbreakers in 1975. Richard Hell, the original bass player, was replaced by Billy Rath when Hell went on to form the Voidoids.
