This is still the most comprehensive collection of Sparks' output from the early days (1972) to 1988, before the temporary renaissance with the album "Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins". It displays all the hallmarks of the Maels - brilliance of melodic and harmonic invention, a distortion of the norms of pop music while nominally working within the conventions.
