Ambas son correctas para definir abeto, la diferencia entre las dos palabras es que FIR se refiere al abeto blanco (el más típico) y SPRUCE se refiere al abeto del norte o abeto rojo (también llamado abeto falso). In talking about an ability, this is more common: I play violin. We play violin. Sometimes "the" is used, but it is less common. But "We play the violin" is correct.

It's rather more like "your story is so sad that I want to pull out my violin and accompany you on it, so that your story would sound even more sad.
