The stately tree has a spreading crown with an irregular shape growing up to 75 ft. (22 m) wide. Red oaks have trunks measuring 1.6 to 3.2 ft. (0.5 – 1 m) wide, with some specimens measuring over 6 ft. (2 m) in diameter.
