26 de ago. de 2003 · THE HOWLING is a creepy film, but there's practically as much comedy and cinema buff in-jokes as there are moments of fright, but Rob Bottin's transformation effects in this picture are just about unequaled in terms of their quality (what baffles me is that 1981 had three great werewolf pictures in cinemas, and today there are none to speak of; oh well, the good old days).
The Howling is one of my most-beloved films. The werewolf transitions are a little static and the New Age Back-To-Your-Inner-Beast stuff doesn't really work in the context of the film, but what does work is golden: Dee Wallace's intrepid traumatized reporter, Belinda Balaski's TV Producer Terry Fisher, equally as intrepid but with my favorite style of maybe anyone in 1981 in the movies.
