Issued in January 1981 on Radio Records, the LP was the second and last attempt by Tom Evans and Joey Molland to recapture Badfinger's earlier market success, which was lost after the death of band founder Pete Ham in 1975.

Evans and Molland were joined by guitarist Glenn Sherba, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Richard Bryans for the recording of another Badfinger album, 1981's Say No More. Poor sales led to the group splintering again, and soon Molland and Evans were both touring under the name Badfinger, while recording royalties were in limbo.

While Airwaves sounded to cater to radio listeners, Say No More is pure rock. That's not to mean that this is a hard-rocking album--Badfinger sounds overall as poppy as ever on this one. However, there is nary a ballad to be found here (though a couple of the lighter songs come close) and the production barely sounds "80's" on most of the tracks.
