Jah Wobble, pseudoniem van John Wardle, (Stepney, 11 augustus 1958) is een Brits bassist, songwriter en dichter. Hij begon zijn carrière als bassist in 1978 bij de band Public Image Ltd. (PiL) die dat jaar werd opgericht door zijn jeugdvriend John Lydon, de frontman van Sex Pistols.

In the past 12 months the one-time bass player with Public Image Ltd has released a string of singles, a four-track EP of ‘dub excursions’, a collaboration with Bill Laswell plus an album with his own band The Invaders Of The Heart, called Ocean Blue Waves.

With Off The Beaten Track came a slight change of direction fuelled by meets with Skip McDonald, Doug Wimbush and Keith Leblanc as the African Head Charge sound took on a funk fuelled percussion driven angle. The new percussive side would meet with the approval of Bonjo and his wanting of ethnic chants.

First issued in 1978, Public Image was the debut 45 from PiL, the post-punk outfit formed by John Lydon in the wake of the Sex Pistols’ demise. Over its abrasive three minutes, Lydon poured scorn on his former colleagues over Keith Levene’s guitar and a classic rumbling bassline from Wobble.
