General info:On Every Street was the last studio album by Dire straits. After this the band went into a world tour which produced a double live album (On the Night - 1993) and then disbanded. Ever since Mark Knopfler, who was the mastermind behind Dire straits, decided not to use the band name again.

The band was trimmed to four members, of which only Knopfler and bassist John Illsley were in the first incarnation. As if there had ever been any question, this was Mark Knopfler’s band.
