Biografie (1) David Alan Mamet se narodil 30. listopadu 1947 ve Flossmooru v Illionis. Jeho dětství nebylo zrovna šťastné. Matka vzala malého Davida a jeho sestru Lynn a odešla od jejich otce k jinému muži. Poté co vyrostl, se však David vrátil zpět ke svému otci. Své vzpomínky na dětství pak vkládal do svých her a scénářů.
