Am 06.10.2019 verstarb Ginger Baker im Alter von 80 Jahren, Grund meine Alben von Ginger Baker’s Airforce wieder anzuhören. Es sind genau ein Doppelalbum in Vinyl und eine DCD. Das Exemplar in Vinyl nennt sich „Once Upon A Time“ und erschien nach 1972, das genaue Jahr ist nicht vermerkt, nur in Deutschland.Es ist identisch mit der Pop History Vol. 18.
En 1969, Ginger Baker joue au sein du supergroupe Blind Faith avec Clapton, Steve Winwood et Ric Grech. Au début des années 1970, il tourne et enregistre avec le groupe de jazz-rock : Ginger Baker's Air Force [5]. Sa rencontre avec Fela Kuti donne naissance, en 1971, au disque Fela With Ginger Baker Live! [6].
Ginger Baker's Air Force as heavy Traffic vibes (for obvious reasons), but also comes off as a tour de force of great musicians of that time, many who had interacted with Baker in other bands. Solid live album from that period of rock music.
