Eppes, Maria Jefferson (1778–1804)American first daughter. Name variations: known as Polly in her youth; Mary Jefferson Eppes. Born Mary Jefferson in 1778; died in 1804; dau. of Martha Jefferson (1748–1782) and Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826, 3rd president of US); m. her cousin John Wales Eppes; children: several, including Frances Eppes and Maria Eppes (who died in childbirth at age 25).
Find a Grave Memorial ID: 6532010. Source citation. Lucy was the daughter of Thomas and Martha Jefferson. She lived only five months. According to her sister's Wikipedia biography page the family was living in Richmond at the time of her birth and death. Richmond became the capital on April 18, 1780. The family escaped to Poplar Forest in May 1781.
Martha Jefferson Randolph (September 27, 1772 - October 10, 1836), known as "Patsy" in her youth, was the eldest child of Thomas Jefferson and Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson.Educated in Philadelphia and Paris during the 1780s, [1] she married her third cousin, Thomas Mann Randolph, at Monticello on February 23, 1790. On April 17, 1804, Mary Jefferson Eppes, daughter of President Thomas Jefferson died. Polly (as she was known since childhood) never recovered from the birth of her third child. She was only 26 years old. When she was 9 years old she sailed across the Atlantic in order to join her father in Paris, where he was serving as ambassador.
