Daniel wrote his first play when he was nine years old. Soon after, he started participating in improvised theatre. As a kid, he earned many performing roles at a nearby Anna Scher Theatre School and WAC Arts.

Both of them attended Anna Scher Children's Theatre when they were seven years old and started acting on television in their teens. Gary Kemp formed the group, The Gentry, which was later changed to Spandau Ballet. Martin joined the group to become lead bassist.
