The mountain was named for a chief of the Tabegauche band of Ute Indians.

Visitors must bring their own equipment including volleyball net, baseball equipment and horseshoes. Parking is provided for 12-14 passenger vehicles.

The first .25 miles from the trailhead climbs steeply out the North Fork valley and then levels off to an easy hike that winds in and out aspen and spruce/fir forests.
