Welcome to VFW Post 3820. The Angel of Mount Shavano. Erosion gullies in the rugged flanks of 14,225-foot Mount Shavano in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains just west of Salida, Colorado, hold snow which forms the head, body, and arms of its famous "Angel." The mountain was named for a chief of the Tabegauche band of Ute Indians.

19 de may. de 2023 · This group campground is located near the Angel of Shavano campground and adjacent to the creek. Volleyball, softball, and a horseshoe pit are available. Visitors must bring their own equipment including volleyball net, baseball equipment and horseshoes. Parking is provided for 12-14 passenger vehicles.
The Angel of Shavano Trailhead is located across the road from the Angel of Shavano Campground and serves as major trailhead along the Colorado Trail #1776. The first .25 miles from the trailhead climbs steeply out the North Fork valley and then levels off to an easy hike that winds in and out aspen and spruce/fir forests.

The Angel of Shavano Campground is ideally suited for tent camping. The campsites are wooded with aspen and spruce trees along the north fork of the south Arkansas River. The Angel of Shavano Trailhead for the Colorado Trail #1776 is across the road from the campground.
