Warrington (/ ˈ w ɒr ɪ ŋ t ən /) is an industrial town in the borough of the same name in Cheshire, England. The town sits on the banks of the River Mersey and is historically part of Lancashire. It is 19 miles (31 km) east of Liverpool, and 18 miles (29 km) west of Manchester.

Warrington is where the north-west connects – a Mersey crossing for the Romans, a canal for the Georgians, a railway for the Victorians, and an airbase for the Americans.

The town museum is a wonderful grab bag of archaeology, natural history and art, while the council owns two fine mansions.
