Shortly after the Spiral Jetty was constructed in 1970, it faced various challenges. People have wanted to destroy the project and put the land on which it lies into a different use.

Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty (1970) is a site-specific sculpture that is located at Rozel Point on the northeastern shore of the Great Salt Lake.
