The Frozen Throne also includes an improved version of the World Editor program that can be used to create custom maps and scenarios to play against the computer or other players. The improved World Editor allows the user to do more custom work with regards to editing skills, providing more functions in the triggers, new units, more global map settings, and three new tile-sets to work with.

Cover art. For each race, The Frozen Throne adds several new units, buildings and upgrades, and one new hero per race. The entirely new race "Naga" has also been added, and can be played in several Sentinel and Alliance missions, as well as in custom maps.A smaller race, the Draenei, have also been included, though they can only be played in an Alliance mission and custom maps.
