Although Uncle Grandpa himself says it's not canon it is the episode where Steven learns to control his sheild. 🤔. It both is and isn't canon, kind of like Garnet in "Crossover Nexus." "Say Uncle" was originally intended to air before the end of the first season, foreshadowing Steven successfully summoning his shield in "The Return."
Furthermore I had only ever heard of Uncle Grandpa before and, really Steven Universe is, to this day, the only exposure I've had to the Show or Character. (Having watched the show on Hulu, I wasn't exposed to commercials for it either) So I have the unique experience of having seen the episode in an almost pure vacuum; and it's still my least favorite episode.
