Leben. Stevie Ray Vaughan wurde als zweiter Sohn von Martha und Jimmie Lee Vaughan in Dallas, Texas geboren und begann 1963 unter dem Einfluss seines älteren Bruders Jimmie wie dieser ebenfalls Gitarre zu spielen. Mit 17 Jahren brach Vaughan die Schule ab und übersiedelte im Frühjahr 1972 mit seiner Band Blackbird nach Austin, Texas, wo sein Bruder bereits seit 1969 lebte.
