Gentle Giant's Octopus is a great album, covering everything that's great about Gentle Giant. Magnificent vocal harmonies, fabulous drum patterns, good bass-play, great symphonification of the sound. Gentle Giants sound is comprised of rock music, fused with classical music, medieval music, and jazz, and even some folk here and there, all in the typical, frantic, Gentle Giant style.

I ve been listening to prog since I was 13 , Yes ,ELP , Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep etc all 60s 70s rock went to record fairs even as CDs were arriving. I even loved Roger Dean art but never saw a GG record. Finally a couple of years ago I connected the dots between Roger Deans Octopus picture and a band called Gentle Giant .
Album Rating: 3.5. Octopus is an album that explores plenty of new themes and ideas not present in Gentle Giant's early work. Indeed, the band experiment and flirt with very different styles. You should put more detail in the description of the music and in what makes Gentle Giant so original, imho.
