14 de oct. de 2016 · Painted when Millais was only 19 years old, Isabella is a truly beautiful piece of art and was the first painting with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood insignia on it (PRB), laying the groundwork for what the PRB was all about. The painting is derived from Keats’ ‘Isabella of the Pot of Basil’, a story taken from the 14th-century Italian writer Boccaccio’s Decameron – a tragic love story.
Captain Hesketh Raoul le Jarderay Millais. Born on 4 October 1901. Son of John Guille Millais and Fanny Margaret Skipwith. Married, firstly, Elinor Clare Macdonell, daughter of Allan Ronald Macdonell, on 28 April 1926. Married, secondly, Katherine Edith Bibby, daughter of Frank Bibby and Edith Mary Clarke, after 1944. Died on 18 November 1999 at age 98.
