Our guest speaker, Colonel Roger Locher, USAF (Ret), told us firsthand about his shoot down and eva-sion from capture in North Vietnam in May-June 1972. Roger Locher is a native Kansan born northwest of Sabetha, Kansas. He graduated from Sabetha High School and attended Kansas State University (KSU).

Roger Locher less than 40 miles from Hanoi during the Vietnam War, he said, “in one of the great examples … of courageous combat leadership, Gen. John Vogt … cancelled the entire strike mission of Hanoi and dedicated all the resources, over 150 airplanes, to the rescue of Roger Locher.”
