At five years old I attended Olive Hill Primary School near Blackheath, Birmingham and went from there to Halesowen technical school, when I was eleven. As a youngster I enjoyed art and sport and played a lot of football (soccer) but also had a great interest in wildlife and birds. I had a happy childhood.

I used a black Gibson Les Paul Custom and also started using a modified CBS-era Fender Stratocaster with Dimarzio Super-Distortion (humbucking) pickups.

It was revealed yesterday that the 70-year-old was suffering from the disease and would miss the majority of the band’s upcoming tour dates in support of upcoming album Firepower .
