He is best remembered for his programme, The Benny Hill Show, an amalgam of slapstick, burlesque and double entendre in a format that included live comedy and filmed segments, with Hill at the focus of almost every segment.
This was made in 1974, and I am sure I must have seen it before, as our house was a Hill loving house, but as I am not sure I am classing this as a first watch. Benny Hill's comedy was often rather wide of PC, but the girls he worked with adored him and any sexism was presented in a seaside postcard way, without causing offence.
