He is Ara David Heditsian, better known to us all as David Hedison. Of Armenian descent, the hazel-eyed, six-foot one-inch Hedison was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on May 20, 1928. Expected to follow his father into the jewelry business, the young Heditsian had his own ideas about how he would make a living.

David Hedison, a native of Providence, Rhode Island (born May 20), began his acting career with the Sock & Buskin Players at Brown University before moving to New York to study with Sanford Meisner and Martha Graham at the Neighborhood Playhouse, and with Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio. From there, he moved to off Broadway productions and a film contract with 20th Century-Fox.

In 1959, when he was cast in the role of Victor Sebastian in the short-lived espionage television series Five Fingers, NBC insisted that he change his name.
