Biography. Tamara Toumanova was one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century. She was also an actress in American films, appearing in The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, Tonight We Sing (where she played Anna Pavlova), Deep in My Heart, Days of Glory, and in Alfred Hitchcock 's Torn Curtain . Toumanova died in May 1996, aged 77.
