Donovan's impressive tenure with the show ended after three seasons, when his character was murdered by the vengeful son of a Bernie Madoff-like financier. Just as with "The O.C.," Donovan also directed several episodes of the series, as well as a pair of installments on another of the network's more popular shows, the cosmetic surgery potboiler "Nip/Tuck" (FX, 2003-2010).

Among his other acting credits, Tom Shayes in Damages, Jimmy Cooper in The O.C., the voice of Hercules in the 1997 Disney animated film of the same name, and a few Kingdom Hearts video games.
