The Animals were an excellent band, but their albums are a bit of a staid listen for the most part. They just don’t do a terrific amount to differentiate themselves on an album-by-album basis from other collegiate blues rock bands of the era, save for their (and I mean this as a positive) screechy quality, which puts them in the backseat to bands like The Sonics, The Troggs or the Kinks.
