22 de mar. de 2017 · The Pretty Things was an English rock band formed in September 1963 in Sidcup, Kent, with their name from Willie Dixon's 1955 song "Pretty Thing". They pioneered a raw approach to rhythm and blues (and later, psychedelia) that influenced a number of key bands of the 1960s British 'invasion', particularly The Rolling Stones, and David Bowie whose first hero was Phil May (born 1944; died 2020).
I came to Pretty Things late, with their 1974 release of Silk Torpedo, and yes, it was all due to the splendid artwork, of which little is known. I also wanted to like this band because a best friend was totally into the group.

Wer zwar die beatles mag , aber sie nicht kaufen wollte , der kaufte die stones !und die , die zu den insidern zählten , die hatten die PRETTY THINGS im regal. eine rauhe musik , die nicht vom mersey beat geprägt war . die band hatte ihre vorbilder im blues und im rock'n roll .harte git. musik mit mundharmonica und ein sänger , bei dem sich am strophen - ende oft die stimme überschlug !!
