14 de abr. de 2008 · Before you get too excited, you should know Electronic Projects For Musicians is not a sequel to the 2007 Rolling Stone top 50 album New Magnetic Wonder. If anything, it's a follow-up to 1996's Science Faire compilation, because this record (named after a 1980 how-to manual) is a collection of B-sides, Japanese bonus tracks, obscure CD-R rescues, and previously unreleased oddities.
To avoid confusion with other similarly named bands, they officially became the Apples in Stereo for 1995's full-length debut, Fun Trick Noisemaker. In 1996, Schneider produced the Olivia Tremor Control's Music from the Unrealized Film Script, Dusk at Cubist Castle and later in the year the Apples issued Science Faire, a collection of singles and rare material.

And while these songs -- mostly bonus tracks from past releases -- aren't quite the Apples at their best, "Electronic Project For Musicians" is still plenty of fun, and shows how the band has grown since their last B-sides/rarities collections. Lots of loopy, colourful little pop tunes with a certain retro sixties pop flavour.
