Brian McNeill was born in Falkirk, Scotland, in 1950. He began his musical training in his early teens with violin lessons, but soon forsook that instrument for the electric guitar. A comprehensive musical education and a mildly misspent youth were the result - until his student years brought him to Celtic music.
Brian McNeill is a Senior Lecturer in Policing at Edge Hill University and was previously the Head of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies at Liverpool John Moores University (2016 – 2019). Since then he has toured with Dick Gaughan, Clan Alba, Kavana/McNeill/Lynch & Lupari, Martin Hayes, Natalie MacMaster and his old friend, the late Iain MacKintosh.
