Clive Gregson is one of those performers who’s at his best playing his own songs rather than covers. This, along with the fuller instrumentation, is why I think “Mischief” is a better record than “Home and Away”; but Gregson’s solo fingerpicking is excellent, and the non-multitracked chemistry here makes my breath catch all the same.
