The parish was opened in March 1928 and the school opened in April 1928. During its early years, it had to cope with frequent inspections, lack of facilities and, of course, a World War! The church and school served a strong, vibrant community. However, numbers began to decline and in 1990 there was a proposal to close the school.

About us. St Cuthbert’s is a voluntary-aided, 11-16, co-educational comprehensive Catholic high school in the St. Helens Authority in the north west of England. There are over 900 pupils on roll of whom 45% are baptised Catholic, with 33% from other Christian denominations, and 22% from other faith or religious traditions.
