Leben. Howard Jones ist das älteste von vier Geschwistern einer walisischen Familie. Ab dem siebten Lebensjahr begann er Klavier zu spielen. Später schrieb er sich an der Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester für das Studium des klassischen Pianos ein. Um seine Studiengebühren zu bezahlen, verdiente er sich mit Nachtschichten bei dem Radiosender Picadilly Radio Geld.
