Cropper issued his debut album, With a Little Help from My Friends, in 1969. He spent most of the '70s producing other artists including Jeff Beck and Mitch Ryder. During the '80s, he rode the Stax sound he helped shape back to popularity when actors John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd tapped him for the Blues Brothers.
