From a personal standpoint I find that both FREEDOM SUITE and COLLECTIONS mark a point where the band was fully firing on all cylinders. Remember that this is the late 60’s, and we lost BOTH the Reverend Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy.

FREEDOM SUITE shows two sides of The Rascals. “It's a double album,” as drummer Dino Danelli explained upon the set's original release. “The first is full of lyrical songs and the second has instrumentals featuring the sort of numbers we play in clubs, and never record. It's beautiful - very jazz orientated.”.
It was their final album for Atlantic Records. The Rascals landed a new record deal with Columbia, and their first LP for their new label, Peaceful World, appeared in stores just two months after Search and Nearness. 17 de mar. de 2014 · Freedom Suite, released on March 17, 1969, was the Rascals’ fifth album, and it was definitely a bit of a departure for the band, but coming as it did on the heels of Time Peace, a greatest-hits collection which topped the U.S. charts, it’s no wonder that they felt like they were in a position to experiment a bit with their sound and lyrical content.
