"La Bamba" opens with a sequence that at first seems like a memory. Some teenage boys are playing basketball in a school yard. Far overhead, a light plane drones through the sky. The colors of this scene are all washed out, as in an old memory, and the voices sound far away. There is slow motion. Another airplane appears. The basketball game continues.

21 de ago. de 2023 · This was the case with 17-year-old Ritchie Valens’s release of “La Bamba”, a traditional Mexican folk song which he recorded, rock’n’roll-style, in 1958. His producer, Bob Keane, said they put it on the B-side of Valens’s record “Donna” because “it was all in Spanish and I figured, ‘Nobody's gonna play that.’”.
