In agreement with the present finding, previous investigations in other countries also reported bronchopneumonia as the commonest type of pneumonia in sheep and goats [ 28 , 29 , 31 , 32 ].

10 de ene. de 2023 · Based on histopathology of BIP cases, the cranioventral lesions of bronchopneumonia were more chronic than the caudodorsal lesions of alveolar and bronchiolar damage. Relevant to the pathogenesis, this implies that BIP represents calves with chronic bronchopneumonia that die when acute alveolar and bronchiolar damage (i.e. interstitial lung disease) compromises function of the remaining lung.
Bronchopneumonia could be confirmed on independent histological review in only 193 (69.2%) of these cases. The original histopathologist diagnosed 74 cases of bronchopneumonia on histological grounds only, of which only 57 (77.0%) could be confirmed on review.
