12 de dic. de 2017 · Leading experts from multiple disciplines address the anatomy and chemistry of the frontal cortex, neuropsychological assessments of capabilities unique to the frontal lobes, the nature of (and possible treatment avenues for) frontotemporal dementia and related conditions, and implications for understanding and treating neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia, mania, and depression.

16 de dic. de 2020 · Frontal lobe impairment in neuropsychiatric syndromes involves one of three clinical subtypes, depending on the involvement of the specific prefrontal area and its subcortical connections. The first syndrome involves damage to the dorsolateral prefrontal area, which is responsible for the executive action of the brain.
RESULTS High rates of neuropsychiatric abnormalities reported in persons with violent and criminal behaviour suggest an association between aggressive dyscontrol and brain injury, especially involving the frontal lobes. The studies reviewed support an association between frontal lobe dysfunction and increased aggressive and antisocial behaviour.

The hierarchy is set up such that higher levels use the modelling capabilities of lower levels, allowing top–down control of lower levels of processing according to the needs of the modelling at higher levels.

The comparison of brain volumes between different diagnostic groups is shown in Figure 2. Compared to MCI, the bvFTD group showed extensive atrophy in frontal cortex, striatum and temporal lobes, and also enlarged lateral ventricles.
