3 de nov. de 2022 · Latvia became part of the USSR in 1940, after the Red Army entered and a new government was formed. After the Constitution of Latvia was changed in 1953, the symbol underwent significant changes. The basic color was still red, which took up two thirds of the flag’s area, the hammer and sickle did not disappear, but now a five-pointed star with a gold outline appeared above them.
The flag of Latvia is made of three horizontal bands: two major bands (upper and bottom) are camine-red, while the middle band is white colored.
