Laura Ellen Ziskin (March 3, 1950 – June 12, 2011) was an American movie producer. She was the executive producer of the romantic comedy Pretty Woman (1990). She was the first woman to produce the Academy Awards telecast alone. Ziskin was born in San Fernando Valley, California.
A talented producer and trusted film executive, Ziskin came to prominence during the 1980s and 90s. She produced such films as No Way Out (1987) and Pretty Woman (1989), later served as president of 20th Century Fox’s Fox 2000 division and subsequently produced Spider-Man (2002) and its highly successful sequels. - Read Laura Ziskin's Guardian obituary.
