13 de sept. de 2016 · Tony Mortimer, who came to fame with U.K. band East 17, says musicians are being squeezed by a digital theft, short-sighted record companies and the greed of file-sharing sites such as YouTube.
Tony Mortimer wrote the majority of East 17’s songs, and would often be the vocalist on the (usually spoken or rapped) verses before Brian Harvey sung the choruses. Mortimer is occasionally still seen on TV, most recently on ITV’s Loose Women, but sadly in 2014 he left East 17 to focus on his solo career.

The 50-year-old has continued to produce records and can occasionally be seen on TV. Back in 2013, he sang alongside Julian Lennon on a track called Rain In England. Anthony Michael Mortimer is a British singer, songwriter and record producer from London. He is a former member of the boy band East 17, who were originally active from 1991 to 1997 and sold over 20 million records worldwide. Mortimer wrote the band's only number-one single, "Stay Another Day".

7 de dic. de 2018 · East 17's Tony Mortimer has opened up about how his band's massive 1994 hit Stay Another Day, which earns him almost £100,000 every year in royalties, is based on his brother's suicide.
Tony Mortimer departed for the third time in 2013. Robbie Craig later joined East 17 in early 2014. John Hendy and Terry Coldwell became the only original members in the group at that stage. In 2017, East 17 partook in B*Witched’s Australia & NZ Tour as a supporting act alongside Atomic Kitten, S Club 3, and Liberty X.
