Mark Freuder Knopfler (Glasgow, 12 augustus 1949) is een Brits zanger en gitarist. Hij werd vooral bekend als frontman van de Britse rockband Dire Straits . Zijn beroemde gitaarspel lijkt een kruising tussen de zweverige sound van The Shadows van Hank B. Marvin en het fingerpickingspel van J.J. Cale .
