9 de mar. de 2021 · 1. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park has long been hailed as one of the best things to do in Key Largo. It was set up in 1963 as a way of protecting the remnants of the country’s last living coral reef, named after John D. Pennekamp, former editor of the Miami newspaper.
Key Largo's spectacular Sandspur and Caloosa Beaches are a part of protected area Bahia Honda. This divine duo of sandy beaches, with their coconut palms and year-round warm waters, offer marvellous swimming, snorkelling and kayaking in their calm waters. Sandspur is especially popular with families.
Key Largo's weather is warm and sunny between November and March, and this tends to come in step with a large number of visitors and matching high season prices for vacation rentals. Despite the risk of summer rain, June through August are also great months to visit for snorkeling and diving, though do keep in mind that hurricanes become increasingly likely in late summer and into early fall.
Key Largo is a 1948 American film noir crime drama directed by John Huston and starring Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson and Lauren Bacall. The supporting cast features Lionel Barrymore and Claire Trevor. The film was adapted by Richard Brooks and Huston from Maxwell Anderson's 1939 play of the same name.
