It is hard to explain the characterisitic of this arrangement except to say that, even though Graettinger writes some very adventurous and futuristic textures and lines, you always know where and what the melody is. This is just wonderful writing!

  7. 21 de oct. de 2006 · All of these originals and arrangements by Bob Graettinger are really well done - way ahead of their time for big band jazz of the time. Some of Graettinger's original works seem to me to be influenced by Stravinsky and other modernist classical composers of the day, so Kenton really stepped out of his comfort zone to perform and record these works.
