Lewis & Clark College adopted its first test-optional admission policy in 1991. As a leader in the test-optional movement, we’ve continued to refine our admission testing policy. As a result, starting with the fall 2025 entering class of undergraduate students, Lewis & Clark College will adopt a test-free admission policy.

Founded in 1970 in Godfrey, IL, L&C held its first classes on the grounds of Monticello College, a small, private liberal arts college for women founded in 1838. Monticello College closed in 1971, and its picturesque 215-acre campus became the beautiful Godfrey Campus of Lewis and Clark Community College.
